Genetic Algorithms for Planarization Problems

چکیده
− Two near-optimum planarization algorithms are presented. The algorithms belong to a general class of algorithms known as genetic algorithms because the search procedures on which they are based are inspired on the mechanics of natural selection and natural genetics. The first algorithm is intended to generate a near-maximal planar subgraph from a given graph and also provides the routing information needed to embed the subgraph on the plane. The second planarization algorithm studied finds a near-maximum independent set of a circle graph. This algorithm may be used for finding a routing on one layer from a set of n two-pin nets in a channel. After small modifications, it may also be used to predict the secondary structure of ribonucleic acids. The main advantage of both algorithms is that they are easily implemented in a parallel computer.

Solving the Graph Planarization Problem Using an Improved Genetic Algorithm
An improved genetic algorithm for solving the graph planarization problem is presented. The improved genetic algorithm which is designed to embed a graph on a plane, performs crossover and mutation conditionally instead of probability. The improved genetic algorithm is verified by a large number of simulation runs and compared with other algorithms. The experimental results show that the improv...
متن کاملA New Approach to Solve N-Queen Problem with Parallel Genetic Algorithm
Over the past few decades great efforts were made to solve uncertain hybrid optimization problems. The n-Queen problem is one of such problems that many solutions have been proposed for. The traditional methods to solve this problem are exponential in terms of runtime and are not acceptable in terms of space and memory complexity. In this study, parallel genetic algorithms are proposed to solve...
متن کاملSolving random inverse heat conduction problems using PSO and genetic algorithms
The main purpose of this paper is to solve an inverse random differential equation problem using evolutionary algorithms. Particle Swarm Algorithm and Genetic Algorithm are two algorithms that are used in this paper. In this paper, we solve the inverse problem by solving the inverse random differential equation using Crank-Nicholson's method. Then, using the particle swarm optimization algorith...
متن کاملTwo-Layer Planarization: Improving on Parameterized Algorithmics
A bipartite graph is biplanar if the vertices can be placed on two parallel lines in the plane such that there are no edge crossings when edges are drawn as straight-line segments connecting vertices on one line to vertices on the other line. We study two problems: • 2-Layer Planarization: can k edges be deleted from a given graph G so that the remaining graph is biplanar? • 1-Layer Planarizati...
متن کاملA multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) for hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with assembly operation
Scheduling for a two-stage production system is one of the most common problems in production management. In this production system, a number of products are produced and each product is assembled from a set of parts. The parts are produced in the first stage that is a fabrication stage and then they are assembled in the second stage that usually is an assembly stage. In this article, the first...
